you remember Peppy le Pew right?
good.
last saturday my dad shot that skunk.
he had stinky clothes and yard,
but we all felt better.
okay, maybe not Peppy.
regardless...
last evening as we sat down to eat
we discovered another meal happening outside.
dad had fed the cats, they obviously were finished
so the clean up crew arrived.
it was a small crew,
just one fat fluffy, well fed stinker.
dad hops up from the table,
(he's nearly 83 so it was a mild hop),
and heads for the gun.
sister-birds hubby was there too,
and he's a professional shooter.
translated = he shoots for fun and at a
few competitions.
anyhoo.... they get the gun
and guess who's on the run?
why of course it's Peppy le Two!
he zips around the back of the house
off to his hidey hole.
i stepped out the back door to inform
the hunters where i last saw Peppy.
i am easily side-tracked by the yips
and yowls of the evening coyote choir.
quickly, (i'm pushing 54 so i am faster than pops)
i zip in to tell sister-bird.
we slip out the front and plaster mile wide
grins on our faces.
such joy to hear those wild voices in song.
popsy comes in the back door, his face rosey red
and eyes dancing, " did you hear the coyotes?"
"we sure did!"
my brother-in-love-the-hunter
comes in
" did you hear the coyotes?"
"yes!"
and then he asks
"did you see the skunk around front?"
" uh..no."
so... Peppy le Two rides again.
We had a barn cat we called Peppy Le Pew. She had a big full tail. We have skunks at the cattle barn. Luckily it is not close to the house. The guys have had lots of run ins. My son-in-laws are always telling a tale of a near "hit" by the skunk. haha
